UTV/Side by Side General Rules...

We just want to make sure your adventure is fun and safe. We want to go over our rules for all UTV Drivers and Passengers.

Please state if you are a driver or passenger or both.

  1. NEVER JUMP THE VEHICLE - The vehicle can land on the front nose, cause significant damage to the front suspension, and
    injure all passengers. Frame and suspension damage is expensive to repair. Repair costs include parts to repair the vehicle,
    labor to fix the rental, and downtime as we cannot rent the vehicle. Again. Do not jump these vehicles.

  2. SHARP TURNS AND DONUTS - Aggressive sharp turns and donuts are STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Turning too quickly can cause the vehicle to tip or roll over and be very dangerous to you and your passengers. Our roll-over/tip-over fee is $500. The fee will be assessed even if the vehicle simply tips on its side. Donuts and excessively sharp turns can cause tires to come off the rim. The tire fee for cleaning sand out of the tire and remounting the tire to the rim is $100 per tire.

  3. RIDER FIT - All passengers must be able to reach the handhold in front of them and place both feet firmly on the floor while the seat belts fasten. We do not recommend nor allow small children to ride in car seats for safety. Please… never put a child in your lap to help you drive.

  4. SEAT BELTS AND HANDHOLDS - While riding, you are responsible as the driver to ensure that all passengers are properly seat belted in and know their proper hand holds. All passengers need to be holding the handhold in front of them when the side-by-side is in motion. Never allow passengers to hold on to roll bars or door frames. In the event of a roll-over or tip-over, holding on to the roll bar or door frames or sticking your arm out to brace yourself can result in severe injuries.

  5. PASSENGER WARNING - Passengers must pay attention. You must anticipate and protect yourself. You must adequately brace yourself if you feel a tip-over or collision is about to occur. Reacting improperly can result in severe injuries or loss of life. Never reach outside of the vehicle or grab the roll bar. Keep your hands on the handhold at all times.

    PARENTS/DRIVERS:     The driver is responsible for ensuring children are instructed and understand how to brace themselves in case of a rollover

  6. DRIVERS AGE - Your rental has a required AGE Limit to be a driver for a reason. We require that you do not allow underage drivers to drive the rental. The minimum age for your rental is 25/30. Friends and family who have not signed our waiver cannot ride in the rental.

  7. THE RIDING AREA - Be very aware of your terrain when in the rental. In the dunes, traveling away from the ocean, the wind has created a gradual uphill dune, and on the other side, it will suddenly drop straight off. Drop-offs are very dangerous. Explore your terrain at a safe speed, and always look before you go over. Never assume it is a smooth surface. Traveling sideways on dunes is not recommended until you are familiar with driving your vehicle. Always be aware of your surroundings and watch for other vehicles and flags when riding.

  8. RIDING AREA & VEGETATION - You will get a map before your rental ride. You are required to stay out of the areas with vegetation and places that are fenced in to keep riders out. The area is restricted and has exceptionally soft sand, so if we have to come get you from the restricted area, there is a $150 fee.

  9. BELT FAILURES - Getting your side-by-side stuck on a dune and continuing to try to drive out is very hard on the belt. Doing this is the number one cause of belt failures. If you are stuck badly and not moving, please call us. Another thing to be aware of is driving under 10 MPH for long periods in the high range. This can and will destroy the belt. There is a $200 charge. Belt Insurance is available for purchase and can save you a $200 fee to replace the belt.

  10. SHIFTING YOUR UNITS. Do not shift your side by side while in motion. When shifting gears you must come to a complete stop before shifting gears. We start your rental in H (high gear) and 4WD. That is the correct gear and settings for this area. You should not need to change anything except from forward to reverse.

  11. BRING YOUR RENTAL BACK IN THE SAME CONDITION YOU CHECKED IT OUT IN. In the event of rental damages during your time, you expressly agree to be responsible for all damages that occurred during your rental as stated in the rental contract. Always take care of our equipment. Please drive carefully; these vehicles cost over $25,000 each. If you wreck or damage anything, we expect you to pay for it today.

  12. When riding, if you hear something strange or something doesn’t feel right with your rental, STOP AND CALL US IMMEDIATELY to prevent further damage.
  13. OCEANO DUNES SVRA - Our riding area is considered a state highway. We have a 15mph speed limit on the beach. That rule applies on the beach, within 50 feet of campers, or where you see posted signs. You can be sited on the beach for speeding. Be aware of your riding areas.
